"Balloons to Heaven"

Healing and supporting families that have experienced the loss of a child is a treasured part of our event. The Memorial Tribute area is a very special area where participating families can display personal effects from their love one. Oftentimes, these families are isolated and alone because communities are uncomfortable discussing the difficult and emotional circumstances that these families have experienced.

Through this component of our event, families have an opportunity to share with the community the interests, hopes and dreams of their child. Community individuals have an opportunity to express their condolences, empathy and understanding. Grieving support professionals provide the community with knowledge about the services they provide.

Through these activities we are able to support families as a community along with developing open communication and community knowledge for this extremely difficult subject. Trained volunteers monitor this area allowing family members to enjoy the event if they desire. As part of the intermission activities, each participating family is invited to take part in “Balloons to Heaven”. This is an avenue in which we honor those children by releasing balloons with special messages from community members.
